or how to break a window with a poem

a man on the train has the word,

Tayna tattooed on his forearm.

in Russian, “tayna”—тайна, is something between “a secret and a mystery.”

“istena,” истина, —means “a truth”.

и стена, “i stena” sounds almost the same as “a truth” however it means “and a wall,”

but и сцена, “i stsena” stand for “and a stage.”

there is a price that is paid for the express secret of each word and it begins with vowels.

"Fate" is just a, “fat e" - E.

Three prongs,

Three directions,

all connected; all manifest from the fat "F's" desire to complete itself.

(a shock of electricity— Frankenstein.)

"hope," is just "hop e" - a lower case "e" has “hop”.

When the “e” matures into “E” it becomes stiff, as if the rigors of mortality have set in. Its capital is spent instantly.

The “e” —easily intoxicates itself with effervescent bitter spirits.

Should an "E" jump over itself, it becomes a window.

…we become certain that any letter can now fly through the window and some words are actually concrete enough to break it.

*Soviet records place Kharms’s birthday either on December 30th or February 2nd. Not unlike the christmas tree which is discarded somewhere in the same window, we understand the Christian sacrifice better in this light.
